Labor Day Weekend + The Weekend Before That

We celebrated the unofficial end of summer by heading north and camping out with the Harrison’s.

The rest of these photos really don’t need any caption. God is good; he gives us beautiful spaces to enjoy with family. We are blessed.

The weekend before Labor Day we went hiking with some friends.

The trails were full of ripe huckle and blueberries just waiting to be picked/eaten. Our plan was to hike a couple miles in to Lake Margaret; however she was a bit underwhelming. Late August and a dry summer had combined to leave Lake Margaret struggling for life on our visit. As a result, we decided to hike on up to Lake Jillian and see what she had to offer.

Seattle Seafair=Traditional state fair – livestock + boat racing + air shows

It was awesome! We packed up a picnic blanket and headed into Seattle to enjoy the annual Seafair. Not knowing what to expect, I was cautiously optimistic that we would have a good time. When we got there we were bombarded with the smell of french fries, turkey legs, and kettle corn. After making our rounds in the food section, we settled into a spot to watch the airshows and races. First up was this neat little red plane. He did lots of twisting and turning and free falling. It was fun to watch and at the same time I was terrified he was going to crash.

Up next: These little boat races. There were like 15 of these guys all racing at one time. We enjoyed watching these guys!

The next airshow lasted for a while. These guys were awesome! There were several times I was sure they would crash into each other as they crisscrossed through the sky. They sorta reminded me of the Aggie Band performing. I was a little too enthralled with their performance to get any good pictures :/

Lastly came the formula one racing. I’m still not sure exactly how these guys race. Their was never a formal start that I know of. But whatever, they were entertaining none the less.

We really enjoyed Seafair and I can see us making many more trips out to this event! Maybe next time Koda can come up for it; I know he’d love it!

Until next time,
